FORE designates this live activity for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™
Faculty: Jeffrey M. Smith, MD, FACS; Tatiana Catanzarite, MD; Mark C. Savarise, MD, MBA, FACS; and Yvonne Savarise, DPT
The physical health of surgeons is critical for a long, satisfying career in the OR, and a healthy life in retirement. Years of performing surgical procedures can lead to chronic pain and other injuries. In fact, the surgical profession sees more than 1 million injuries a year. This webinar will provide current best practices in ergonomics and recommendations for future research. We will begin by briefly exploring the need for a better understanding of ergonomics in surgery, and then review the future of ergonomics in surgical environments.
Surgeons, Fellows, Medical Residents, and Medical Students
1. Describe best current ergonomic practices in the OR for surgeons.
2. Identify opportunities for improvement in your surgical environment.
3. Give examples of future research opportunities in ergonomics.
