What is your favorite wellness activity?

My favorite wellness activity is flying.

How long have you been doing it?

I learned to fly 10 years ago.

How did you get started?

I dreamed of flying or becoming a professional pilot since I was a child and finally had the time to pursue it. It quickly became a passion and a great stress reliever. I usually fly 2 times a week and frequently take weekend trips with my wife to explore new places.

How does this activity impact your mental, physical, and / or emotional well-being?

Flying is such a thrill and tremendous stress reducer because it allows you to focus on one activity, uninterrupted by outside distractions, and it brings perspective when you are above the world enjoying the view and quiet.

How does this activity bring wellness to your life when other activities have not?

I think one of the biggest differences between flying and other activities is that it completely disconnects you from distractions. No cell phone, email or pages, just you, the plane and the sky.

There is also no pressure to perform. It’s simply an activity to enjoy and continually work to perfect.
