Meet Brian
I am a trauma and acute care surgeon working in a safety-net hospital on the US – Mexico border. As a Texas Native, I have a passion for serving our diverse immigrant community and training the next generation of surgeons. I became interested in coaching following my experience as a first responder to our mass casualty experience in El Paso (8-3-19). I also have extensive experience with career counseling for residents and medical students. I look forward to engaging with physicians and surgeons that are facing a spectrum of challenges ranging from burnout to the real consequences of witnessing traumatic events. I routinely engage with the SurgeonMasters training community on webinars and social medial. I look forward to sharing evidence-based tools for coping with trauma in the SurgeonMasters blog.
Outside of work I enjoy playing guitar, golfing, hiking in the mountains, traveling, and the company of dogs.
Coaching Specialty: Post-traumatic stress disorder, burnout, post-traumatic growth, resilience training, substance abuse, anger disorders, and resident physician remediation.
