Dear Community:
On the podcast episode, Appreciating Compassion!, Carla Smith, MD made me think about priorities – the good, the bad, and the ugly. A few thoughts…
1. The Good – When priorities guide decision-making and align with our values and beliefs.
2. The Bad – When we have an unclear picture of our priorities, leading to wasted time and energy.
3. The Ugly – When we suffer truly negative consequences like moral injury and burnout and the priorities placed upon us conflict with our values and beliefs.
I feel challenged by priorities at times.
When I feel this way, I turn to my personal mission statement or purpose. It is MY WHY. When I have “the ugly” conflicting with my values or too many things in alignment with my purpose on my plate, then I turn to the 8 PRACTICEs Methodology to break it down into parts to learn and grow.
What’s your system for managing priorities?
I’m curious how others manage it all. Don’t forget to check out upcoming events and a few of the resources from our community.
