Peoria, IL., April 6, 2023 – SurgeonMasters CEO Jeffrey M. Smith, MD, FACS, PCC invited to lead a half day session and Grand Rounds about physician wellness at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, Clinical Medicine and Pediatrics. The title of the Grand Rounds presentation is, Physician Wellness: The Way I See It. What do you See?
Dr. Smith will start with the presentation to the medical school in the morning, before meeting with pediatric residents. Following the morning sessions, Dr. Smith will meet with faculty wellness coaches, and finally Program Directors.
Grand Rounds Objectives:
- Define burnout, moral injury, and physician distress, and identify risk factors and mitigation techniques.
- Define resilience and wellness in the context of today’s physician career experience.
- Assess your current level of wellness, assess your current level of burnout, and identify future potential threats to your well-being.
- Create a short-term plan to practice wellness incrementally better than your current level.
- Mitigate one risk factor for burnout, moral injury, or physician distress.
