Dear Community,
Beyond the misconception that coaching is only for remediation, there’s an even deeper stigma around coaching in some circles—even among those who say they support it. In reality, coaching unlocks potential and insights that are often inaccessible on our own. While teachers, mentors, consultants, and therapists each play valuable roles, coaching stands apart in a way that is uniquely powerful for physicians.
As accomplished professionals, we dedicate ourselves to continuous learning. We attend conferences, take courses, and seek new knowledge. But the real challenge isn’t just learning—it’s applying that knowledge in a way that truly improves our lives and practices.
- How does new knowledge work for us as individuals?
- How do we apply it efficiently to create real change?
That’s where coaching makes all the difference. Coaching helps us unlock deeper levels of thinking that we can’t always access alone. Each of us has a unique practice, life circumstances, and resource constraints. What works for one of us doesn’t necessarily work for another in the same way.
Coaching bridges that gap between learning and application, helping us tailor what we learn to our lives for maximum effect.
