The 8 PRACTICEs Coaching Methodology as a Reflection Tool

01/06/2021 Jeffrey Smith, MD, FACS, PCC

Dear Community:

When we reflect and gain awareness, we often create a goal or draft a change we hope to implement. There are many factors that can help or hinder success, like our environment, interpersonal dynamics, and our own desire to put in the required work. During these times, I find asking questions to be the best next step.

  • How can I create buy-in among ALL (or most) stakeholders?
  • What will inspire OTHERS to succeed in this endeavor?
  • What is one (or two) SIMPLE step(s) we can take in the right direction?

None of us like wasting time, but exercising patience and asking questions is time well spent, especially if that means not moving in the wrong direction.

If you’re looking for a start, I find the 8 PRACTICEs Coaching Methodology to be a great place to begin.

8 PRACTICEs Coaching Methodology Form

Selected Value: 0
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest level, how passionate are you about creating this change?
What are your most important roles and relationships? How might the give and take of these roles and relationships impact positively or negatively your ability to implement this change?
How might you decrease negative attitudes or increase positive attitudes to implement this change?
How might communication be improved to create mutual understanding related to this change?
If time / life management is more related to being in a great rhythm (quality time more than quantity and focus on the issue,) how could you improve quality time and focus related to this change?
What are the shared goals of other stakeholders? How could you address these to inspire this change?
What are some simple steps you can take to create positive change or improvement?
How might you increase the physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual energy energy?
